The best teachers for the best English learning experience

Part of what makes the LOFT unique is our focus on providing superior teaching staff.

We have real career teachers

We pride ourselves in hiring staff with teaching credentials, degrees in education, or experience in working with children.

We have extensive experience teaching.

Our staff are bilingual, trilingual, or multilingual, and clearly understand the difficulties in learning a second language, and how to teach and overcome those difficulties.

English Classes for Children (Ages 0-18)

Private / Joint / Small Group

Tiny Tots - Young Children   (Ages 0-5)

Singing, dancing, playing, stories, crafts, parties and often LIVE music.

LOFT teachers are musically talented. The best in Niigata for teaching children.

Elementary School Classes  (Ages 6-12)

- Pre-phonics  (Introductory Phonics and English Basics)

Children are introduced to phonics through songs, activities, games and beginning reading. The LOFT's phonics program is unique and developed for the LOFT especially by American professional educators for teaching Japanese children who study English on average once a week.

- Phonics

Children continue into more advanced levels of phonics which also incorporates grammar and heavy conversation practice. At this level, the children are already reading, but we are preparing them for more advanced "speed" reading.

- Conversation Books  (Let's Go Book 2 Through Let's Go Book 6)

We start our students in Book 2 because they have already covered the same material of Let's Go Book 1 in our phonics program. LOFT kids read and can do the homework independently.

Middle & High School Classes  (Ages 13-18)

Teachers provide a range of topics to reinforce students' conversational and debate skills. Textbooks are used to facilitate learning, but a large portion of class time is focused on processing English with sufficient speed and learning to speak articulately.

Advanced Studies Program

Children in our advanced studies program use the same books used by American children. This is ideal for our rapid learners and returnees. If parents want their children to become advanced English speakers, this will be achieved in this program.

TOEIC/ TOEFL/ IELTS/STEP Eiken

LOFT students, through hard work, achieve excellent results. They are interested in more than just passing entrance exams for getting into high school or college. They aim at higher goals, such as living or studying in foreign countries, preparing for their future in business, medicine, dentistry and so forth.

Notable examples:

At age 19, a LOFT student scored 970 on the TOEIC and then went off to live in Canada.

At age 11, a LOFT student passed level 2 of the STEP Eiken.

At age 24, a LOFT student scored 950 on the TOEIC and now lives in the United States.

Many of those who studied at the LOFT as children are now professionals. Some of them go overseas to work at NIH (the National Institutes of Health), other notable institutions, American universities, etc. Currently, more than 30 former LOFT students are living or working abroad.

These are just some examples of LOFT success.  Success takes perseverance and determination.
